No, and HELL NO! Married people don't qualify for K1 visas. If you get married anywhere but the USA within 90 days of entry using the K1 visa, you'll be starting over again filing an I-130 petition for a spouse visa.

I mean, Indonesian marriage certificate or what they call as marriage report certificate, after marriage is done overseas. I read that it needs to be done only for those who intend to stay in Indonesia (after living some time overseas), yet there's a notion that says that this report certificate is still needed even though the couple does not have intention to live in Indonesia. The implication is that this report certificate is going to make it easier for the couple if they intend to buy property in Indonesia in the future. Also, if the kid will decide later to be Indonesian citizen, it will be legally recognized for the marriage has been reported to Indonesian government; otherwise, the kid will be considered born out of wedlock.

Indonesians, anyone has the knowledge about it?

Your question has nothing to do with US immigration. I expect the answer can be found through research with Indonesian sources.

Hi Ranie and Glen, if u are in States, u should ask Indonesian consulate about that... I've never heard of it... I have friends that are Indonesian-American, they have marriage certificate from US and their kids still have dual cz till they are 18, maybe u meant u need to report it to the Indonesian marriage bureau? but then one of u, I assume is Indonesian cz...

Registering your US marriage to Indonesian government is recommended, but not compulsory. And it does not really affect the status of your US marriage in Indonesia. Indonesian government DOES acknowledge marriages that take place abroad. I got this information from website of a lawyer office in Jakarta who is specialized in handling mixed couples.

So anyway, registering your marriage is recommended because it would help you alot when dealing with legal paperworks such as when you purchase property in Indonesia, or giving birth of your baby in Indonesia, or when you want to move back to Indonesia and stay for long term. So it is more about convenience. My husband and I plan to register our US marriage too, and you can do this at Indonesian consular nearest to you free of charge.

Hope this helps :)
