I'm not sure, but we may be able to call DOS to find out about packet 3 as well? Anyone know? I know you can do that to get the interview date...I wouldn't call about Packet 3 unless its been a few weeks since the embassy/consulate supposedly received the package..

Ah, we say we won't call now......but....

Also, I am still full steam ahead although we don't intend to PoE until September and marry in October, hoping to save all of my future inlaws from airfares which are going to be creeping back up at any moment!!

I know me too! I want to know my interview date and go to the interview so I can finalize wedding plans and let everybody know its safe to book tickets! From your signature I think we are planning on getting married the same weekend! I plan to do POE near the end of September too!

regarding the tax transcripts, what form does that supplement? I'm still having a hard time pulling together all of the information that is required for the interview in advance.

The tax transcripts are for the I-134, the affidavit of support.

I just checked on the I-134 instructions, and I don't see where it requires 3 years? And this only applies to people who are self employed, right? Help-- I'm lost (again).

You may find more help getting your affidavit of support filled out in a different forum (as we are going through it for the first time just like you, not a lot of experience to poll in this thread)

Hopefully these links will get you started:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=support

Also, I keep reading that they judge you based on the same criteria as the I-864 (though you don't need THAT form until later), so having similar/the same supporting evidence would be advisable. It's less clear than a nice VJ guide, but all the specifics are in the INSTRUCTIONS part of the form.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864.pdf

Again, you don't need the I-864 until AOS, but it seems to be widely recommended that you meet the same requirements and burden of evidence given in the instructions here.

Talked to my Canuck tonight and she just received her Packet 3 letter from the Vancouver Consulate. It now references a downloadable checklist at the Vancouver Consulate Website. Minnew posted something about this in the Embassy & Consulates Forum. This new checklist doesn't have the I-134 listed, which is very odd indeed. I will be sending an e-mail to the consulate to inquire about that. I suspect that perhaps they are also mailing a letter to the USC to request the I-134, but I'm not sure. It could also be because the checklist is both a K3 and K1 checklist, so instead of adding confusion about I-134 vs. I-864 they omit it. It may also simply be a typo...

Nevertheless, I just thought I'd mention here that the Packet 3 letter does come to the beneficiary no matter how closely you track the progress of your petition... You need not drive yourself nuts learning the ins and outs of the DHL website and shipping process at NVC to get from NOA2 to Packet 3... It has been entertaining watching those of you who've chosen that route though! :P;)

Good luck to all!

The reason that the I-134 is not listed on Packet 3 is because it isn't part of packet 3....you take it to the interview in person :)

I understand it is for the interview! Packet 3 is the checklist outlining the requirements for the interview that the beneficiary must assemble prior to faxing their request for an interview. The previous version of the Packet 3 checklist on the VJ Vancouver Consulate Information Page had both requirements for immunizations and the requirement for an I-134. Both these previous requirements are currently omitted on the downloadable Packet 3 checklist on the Vancouver Consulate Website.

Yeah it used to be listed on the checklist as "Evidence of Support" which had the I-134 and OF-167, I wonder what happened to the OF-167 form too?

I have not received my Packet 3 letter yet from Vancouver, but that is good news that your Canuck received hers! Maybe mine is on the way too! Canada Post is so slow though and I am in SK!! There will be no postal delivery on Good Friday or Easter Monday in Canada either! :(

How does the consulate send the packet to the beneficiary? DHL, Canadian Post, dog sled?

Canada Post might as well be dogsled!

Woke up this morning to a text from my girl in Japan saying that her packet 3 was waiting for her when she got home from work

So I guess we'll start planning and schedule days for her to go see the police and doctor!

I love Japanese Postal system! haha. I'm still waiting for the letter from NVC.
