Anything that starts off at the outset with divisive (and totally unjustified, frankly) fingerpointing gets a big  from me.

What is it with these commentators? I mean, we're (most of us at any rate) down with the idea of free speech and that a person can say idiotic and ridiculous things to their hearts content - but seriously... why is it that people like this are allowed to define national political debates? Why are they given such prominence in our media and quoted as if their word has any authority?

With blog sites and it being relatively easy these days even for grandpa to put himself out there - but surely there's a difference between grandpa, and a journalist with some education in politics who actually knows what is going on. A downside of all these new technologies is that good, insightful commentary gets lost amid a sea of ignorant sewage.

Personally I think that Obama will turn out to be a Tony Blair - he'll talk a good game, fix some issues, fudge others and cause a lot of resentment on still more. Of course he's going to disappoint in some respects, I mean... given the pre and post-election hype how could he not?

Kit Lange is an Air Force veteran and military writer who specializes in investigating murder cases stemming from actions in combat. Her work was used as evidence in the Lt. Ilario Pantano case, and has been quoted extensively in other news publications for other cases. In 2005, she co-wrote a 10-part series disproving war crime allegations against an elite Army unit; her blog, EuphoricReality.com, was named as one of the top 10 milblogs of the year. She is also the National Web Coordinator for Gathering of Eagles, a nationally-recognized troop support organization. Kit holds a degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology from Spartan College of Aeronautics, and is currently working on a second degree in Aviation Technology Management. She resides in Tulsa , Oklahoma .

INTERESTING COMMENTARY FROM A FEMALE AIR FORCE VETERAN

It certainly is interesting - if that OP article is anything to go by she's remarkably uninformed and driven by stereotypical partisan bias.

Pushing her background and qualifications don't change that. If anything, they make it worse.

I'm in the military and I can tell you from experience that it has a very right-leaning mindset. Although I respect the author's military service and certainly give the appropriate consideration to her military background one cannot and should not forget that a person's personal views are a very significant factor to consider when looking at his/her take on a particular subject.

Not everyone who voted for Obama, or who wanted Obama to be president rather than McCain (and his fluffy assistant) believed then, or believes now that the sun shines out of his #######, or that he can or will solve every problem. Most people, I would suggest are quite realistic about their expectations, which are fairly low and tempered with realism, knowing as we do that Obama, like everyone else in Washington, is a politician and not everything they do is for the benefit of "Us".

You voted for somebody you had low expectations for? Maybe realistic but it doesn't a thing about you didn't vote for Joe the Plumber instead.

You can paint everyone that doesn't think like you as 'librul dope smoking, uincorn believing crack pots' as you wish, but that doesn't make it true, nor does it make your synthesis of the world particularly useful when it comes to understanding how to solve problems. Still, good luck with your continued 'Us versus them' divisionism.

Apparently, you're describing yourself here since I didn't write anything close to that. You've got the "Us vs, them" line down pretty even though nobody knows who you are referring to.

 ya think ;)

I could care less about her service and credentials. On the basis of that blog entry - she's a space cadet if she thinks those "predictions" are accurate and realistic.

Mirroring doesn't cut any ice with me mate.

I didn't vote for anyone, I am not the USC but yes, had I voted, I would have voted for someone I didn't have high expectations of, having high expectations of a politician is pie in the sky unrealistic (History most certainly tells us this). It's more often a case of 'least worst' than of expecting something wonderful to occur just because one votes for one man to become president or one party to come to power.

That being said, I would also expect whoever I did vote for to be scrutinized rigorously once in office. The electorate do have to accept some responsibility for the actions of their representatives. Naysaying for no reason is pointless, but holding one's elected representatives to account is necessary, be they Bush, Reagan or Obama.

Or whomsoever really, of course.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

the rush is on to fake left and hand Bush's economic debacle to Obama. If the wing-nut bloggers think we're going to buy that ridiculous logic, they have another thing coming. This DEPRESSION is squarely on the shoulders of GWB. Enough said.

If you're referring to Freddie and Fannie, no they don't have much to do with it. But to admit it was really the collateralized debt obligations and credit default swaps flogged by Wall Street just hits too close to home for the GOP. The Bernie Madoffs of the world vote Republican.

As awful as Bush was as President, the blame should be spread around concerning the economy.
