Consulate Question

Hi again, I figured I'd start a different thread for this questions.

I found on this (website) where the US consulates are in Canada. However I read somewhere that they only do interviews in Vancouver and Montreal.

Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks!

YEPPERS!!!

ALL Canadian cr-1 and IR-1 goto MONTREAL!!

Vancouver consulate handles k1 and k3 for Manitoba and Westward

Montreal Consulate handles K1, K3 Ontario and Eastward, and of course ALL CR-1/IR-1

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yes and No..

I am not really near either Montreal or Vancouver and I do see a consulate mentioned in Toronto. Why do I not see anyone posting that they are dealing with Toronto, for K1. They have a medical examiner and their site does, show that they do Visas.

I am New and Still confused.

Also - I'm the "Beneficiary" so things are coming from a different angle than most, which I guess makes it more confusing for me.

Any Help is appreciated.

There are many US Consulates in Canada but only Montreal and Vancouver deal with these specific visas. The other consulates deal with work, student visas, and all the rest as I understand it. The reason you see medical examiners in Toronto is that there are/should be doctors who do immigration medicals all across the country, not just in Montreal/Vancouver.

I do believe that there is only one consulate in some countries, so I guess you could say that us Canadians are pretty lucky to have two!

I hope that makes a little bit more sense.

I know someone who works at the US Consulate in Toronto and he told me they mostly just work on commerical/business visa and issues - they don't do much with immigration.

I think it's pretty horrible that we have to go all the way to Montreal, but at the same time, I think this process is purposely difficult for a reason... so at the end of the day, if you're extra prepared it's no big deal...

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11
