Your EAD alone will not grant you access back to the US. You need either an Advance Parole, a valid multi-entry visa (such as a work visa) or the Green Card to re-enter the US.

Your EAD is not good for re-entering the U.S. You must have an an approved AP document in hand to return. Otherwise, you will be denied entry and will need to begin the visa process all over again. Perhaps it's best if you remain in the U.S. if his trip to Costa Rica is necessary and can't be postponed.

I have my AP docuemnt in hand. That was approved first. My EAD was approved today so I won;t have that when I leave. I DO HAVE AN AP DOCUMENT. I am just wondering if they will ask for my EAD as well since I will not have it with me.

I have my Advance Parole doument with me. That was approved first. However I am wondering if they will want to see my EAD as well?

You don't need the EAD at all then. Your AP document will be fine!

When you will get the EAD card you will see it clearly states on it "Not Valid for reentry to US". :)

Not everone files for EAD, and it's only good while you are in the US, they would never ask for that at the immigration counter, don't worry :)

Your post has to do with traveling before getting green-card.
