Los Angeles may lay off 3,000 teachers

Los Angles Unified School District officials said Tuesday that 3,000 of the district's non-permanent teachers may receive layoff notices.

The layoffs could target teachers who have been with the district for two year or less, as well as elementary and secondary English and math teachers.

Interns and provisional teachers who have not passed teaching exams in their subjects would also likely be affected.

I am thankful for my job, more every day I read something like this. I am a 14-year veteran teacher, and even I don't feel completely secure in my job lately...

i haven't heard anything about New York City though...

Republicans were vanquished in NYC a long time ago. Taxes and fees will be raised when necessary, as many times as necessary
