Greetings everyone and Happy New Year!!

I am looking for a good quality US replacement for rice. My sweety sure likes her rice and I want to find something here in the US that is just as good at what can be found in the Phil's.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Most don't care what kind or brand it is, it is more about what it costs. My fiancee says rice is rice to her. Jasmine is very expensive and I doubt she has ever had it and if she has had it probably doesn't know she's had it. Don't sweat the little stuff.

Jasmine rice from Thailand is the best and also the most expensive but quite common. And Jasmine rice bought in the Philippines is also from Thailand and is the most expensive. A cheaper alternative is long grain rice. Avoid Calrose as it's rather different from what we're used to. Japanese white rice is also quite a treat but is hard to come by.

Thanks for all the replies :star:

I don't plan to sweat the small things but I do plan to do everything I possibly can to keep my beloved happy. If that means spending more for good rice then I will.

Her happyness it the only thing that matters to me.

Thai Jasmine rice is hands down the best in the world! It's about $5 per kilo in most Asian food stores and a bit more in many grocery stores. Don't get "glutinous" rice unless you want thai-syle sticky rice or Basmati, which is specific to Indian dishes.
