I am looking for a good quality US replacement for rice. My sweety sure likes her rice and I want to find something here in the US that is just as good at what can be found in the Phil's.

 I mix calrose & brown rice 50/50 and its perfect, nutrition-wise with the right stickiness but I love Japanese rice most. It really depends on your sweety's taste, so why not let her experiment? :)

When I first come here, my husband got me to try brown rice. I did not like at first, because it had a weird smell, and seemed so hard when I first tasted it. He told me it was good for me, that I need to get more fiber in my diet, and that white rice has no nutritional value.

I did not believe him at first, but now I am "regular". I don't need the docolax anymore (thank God!). And I like the brown rice, and the white rice seems funny to me now. But it is hard to find in big bags, and it costs more. But we found an asian store that sells it in the 25 pound bags for $18.

Don't worry. She will get used to whatever you buy. Just get a good rice cooker.

I also suggest the Jasmine rice. We buy 50 lbs bags for about $30 at the filipino store near here.
