Affidavit of Support for K1 visa. Tax Transcript Question

Dear VJers:

Wanted someone to chime in. As part of the tax transcripts that go with the I-134, Affidavit of Support form, along with other information, do I just include tax transcripts for the Federal return for 1 year. What about the state taxes? Are tax transcripts for that available or needed?

State Taxes some states don't have them, like Texas

Just have a copy of your last IRS return.

Three years is the best practice. You're not proving how much tax you paid. You're documenting your income. Your federal taxes returns do that. Thankfully, not all States have a State income tax anyway.

Thanks tallcoolone and pushbrk. I do have my W2s to document income if that is what tax transcripts are needed for. If I have W2s, do I still need tax transcripts? Seem to recall reading 1 year rather than 3 years that are needed. Do they need 3 years?

Complete tax returns include all schedules and supporting docuements. Tax transcripts alone are sufficient. No need for both.

Read up on the consulates in India. They are somewhat unique in wanting three years tax returns to document income.

Some consulates require none at all. There is no 'norm'. The issue is always consulate specific.
