great question. I am looking at doing this for Trisha also. It will help with the initial homesickness.

That's one of the things that helped out my husband with his adjustment. We only get one Colombian channel but it's the only way we are still connected with Colombia. It's of great help.

If you have decent internet connection you may be able to find a lot of your favorite shows and even entire channels broadcast online. My husband recently found that we can watch several Ecuadorian channels online at justin.tv. I know that there are other sites out there, a general search might help you find more than you would imagine.

There's no "TV Guide" for these internet-broadcasting-tv-programs (such as justin.tv) so one never knows what is on, but if you know the local schedules of when the shows are on, you can probably find the shows or news that you might be missing while in the US.

We were able to watch the Championship club soccer match between Manchester United and La Liga (Ecuador) at 5:30am (live broadcast from Japan) a few weeks ago, via the live internet broadcast online. It was fantastic!

Good luck!
