I have been reading some peoples stories on here and I am terrified! We rec'd our NOA1 Sept 15 and now we are waiting.....along with everyone else. We are really hoping for Jan or Feb but some people have been waiting for like 8 months with NO NOA2?????? Is there a reason this would happen? I am stressed out right now and I want that NOA2! But I also want to know is it possible for this to not be the quickest route (K1) I am wondering if there was a quicker route we missed?

same thing happened to us.

noa1 in april. then a long wait... we got an RFE though around june.

and another long wait. but this one as like no light at the end of the tunnel. so my fiance started calling them every week. cos the website said they sent the RFE but no rfe in the mail.

only then to find out our case was put under "abandoned files" cos they said we never followed up. which was total #######. cos my fiance called and called and even talked to an actual uscis supervisor. he said he would activate our case back and send us a new rfe.

so all things done with the rfe and all, noa2 in november.

what a long wait. and all because they said we didnt call.

so do the same i suggest. call them weekly if you must. and what we did was talk to an agent, dont just listen to the automated answer. talk to someone from the USCIS. get their names. and tell them you have been calling and following up your case and tell them to note it down that you called to check.

cos when my fiance called, they said - sir, you never called.

duh. he called every day off work he had.

that really pissed him off. so he said - well note it down on my file that i called today and im gonna call again tomorrow and the next day and so on...

so we got our rfe and noa2.

just pray you dont get an rfe like we did. just your noa2.

good luck!

K1 is the 'quickest' it's also the only way if you're not already married...

But all this 'speed' has a cost on the USA end. It may get you together with your loved one faster, but when he/she gets here, will have to wait (again) in order to work, travel (outside the US) and get the LPR/Green Card.

P.S.

You're on target with your timeline - assume the best.

The K1 is generally the quickest route. But sometimes things happen to make the process a little longer. It can be at the petitioning stage or at the interview stage. Its really out of your control when it comes to some of the delays that can happen. Also remember that each case is different.

Just sit tight. Your case is not out of the processing times yet. Don't start stressing out yet, it just makes the process that much longer.

You have filed and have the NOA1 already, just have a little more patience and you will get the NOA2 soon too. K1 is the quickest route. Right now instead of stressing too much about it just keep busy and talk to your SO a lot. If you keep worrying about the immigration timelines, you will go out of your mind. The waiting game has just started. All the best!
