I-797 Notice of Action - Question

Hi,

My fiance is in India for whom I have applied for K1.

I received "I-797 Notice of Action" which has:

Notice Type: Approval Notice

Valid from 11/17/2008 to 03/17/2009

Does this mean, my fiance has to enter the US before 3/17/2009 (march 17, 2009)? What does this valid date mean?

technically it means the visa needs to be issued before the expiry.... however, the consulates can extend at there discretion if there is a need...

MY FIANCE ALSO HAS SAME APPROVAL NOTICE DATE, DID U GET INTERVIEW DATE? MY CASE IS AT MUMBAI TOO

Yes, interview date is on Feb 16th, in Mumbai.

So, my fiance not necessarily HAVE TO enter the US before March 17th, 2009. Correct?

Usually once given, visa is valid for 6 months.

MINE FIANCE HAS INTERVIEW ON 12 FEB,2009.

NO YOUR FIANCE DOES NOT HAVE TO ENTER BEFORE MARCH 17TH, 2009.

IT IS VALID FOR 6 MONTHS.
