My 10 yr green card was just approved and i was wondering if i would need to let the SSA office now that... Can any of you guys please confirm if you did it..

I did notify the SSA office when i recieved my 2 yr green card..

1/24/08 - Transferred to VERMONT

1/26/2008 - NOA

2/23/2008 -Biometrics

12/16/2008 finally Approved

N-400

12/03/08 Eligible to file N400

10/03/09 Mailed N-400

10/07/09 NOA

10/13/09 Check cashed

10/30/09 FP appointment

11/07/09 Case sent to Local office for interview

11/23/2009 Received interview letter with an as of date of 11/18/2009

12/15/2009 Interview scheduled ---Approved

Nope, not SSA not needed to be notified about immigrations status change until becoming a US Citizen.

You notify SSA when AOS is approved, and then again after naturalization.

Removal of conditions does not change a person's immigrations status, they were LPR before and after removal of conditions.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

however, if your SScard still has the DHS restriction stamp on it, you have to go to the SSA to get an unrestricted SScard. This has to be done as soon as you get your conditional gcard, but if you haven't done it yet, do it now.

:blink: I thought you would have to let them know, after all you were only a "lawful" permanent resident, don't they need to know that that has been lifted and you are now an "actual" permanent resident???? that your going to be here at least for the next 10 years, unless you become a citizen.

11/19/08 - Received Notice of Action - 1 year extension on my current green card - now waiting for biometrics letter.

11/28/08 - Received biometrics letter.

12/12/08 - Biometrics appointment - 10am.

01/13/09 - Still waiting............

06/08/09 - Card in production and on it's way!

06/22/09 - Received 10 Year Green Card! YAY!!

We still need to get that restriction notice on Claudeth's card removed but have been too lazy to do anything about it. :unsure:

What is the purpose of applying for unrestricted SS card?

If/when you change employers, you just present your unrestricted SS card + state issued ID or driver's license to show that you are authorized to work. No need to show your green card. It is much simpler and less confusing to a lot of employers. They won't have to re-verify your status as the SS card does not have an expiration date.

An LPR is an LPR regardless of whether you have a 2yr or 10yr green card.
