I am sure thousands of people have asked these questions, but I cant find direct answers.... hope you guys can help!

We are about to send oour AOS package, and are just wating for the tax transcripts to arrive.

I am planning to change my maiden name to my husband's name (I already have a social in my maiden name that I am going to change this week) , and have the following questions:

- I put my new name on all the forms... is this ok, or should I use my maiden name still?

- My advanced parol will be issued in my new married name, but my UK passport will still be in my maiden name.. do I need a new passport?

- Will I get a new social security number, or just a name change?

Thanks for your help everyone!

I chose to use both names unhyphenated ie. Jones Smith. I used this on all the forms, and put my maiden name for "other names used". I decided to change my name when I filed for adjustment so I wouldn't have to worry about changing it later. I believe that if you show your marriage certificate when you use your passport or other documents with your maiden name you will be ok. I went for my biometrics today and she didn't even want to see the marriage certificate with my husband's name.

Using your new name is fine on the forms, use maiden name as "other names used" - your marriage certificate allows you to use your husbands name.

You will obviously eventually need a new passport, but as it stands you can use your passport, make sure that tickets are booked in your maiden name (to match passport) and carry marriage certificate with you when you use AP - I believe this is correct, but having never had or used an AP, correct me if I am wrong.

Social, just a name change, your number is for life :)
