No more interviews until Feb 2009!!!

Because of NVC and the horrible response time from the VSC, I've found out that we missed the deadline to get granted an interview with the korean embassy until February 2009. We are awaiting the final interview for my wife, as this is the last step before she is granted a visa to come to the US. We started this horrible process last year in Dec 2007 and here it is one year later still waiting to get her in the country. I've seen people jump ahead of me in line plenty of time but now this is the last straw.

We were told today that the korean embassy is booked up through february and we can't schedule any interview until then. I was really hoping, praying that my wife would get to spend our first christmas in 3 years together but it seems this isn't to be. I am asking anyone in the know here, is there anything I can do? Anyone I can pay off? I desperately want to see my beloved wife this christmas but because of american bureaucracy we are screwed once again. Any advice? Please help, we are depressed and saddened by this turn of events.

It might help to write to your congressman's office. Let them know how long it has been taking. Of course she won't be home for Christmas (I know how you feel  ), but it's worht a shot.

Best of luck and try have happy holidays all the same :star:

05-08-2008: Received at California Service Center

05-10-2008: NOA 1

05-10-2008: Hard Copy

05-12-2008: Check cashed

07-22-2008: NOA 2

NVC:

10-27-2008: NVC sends an RFE requiring about my J-1 visa two year home country residency requirement. 3 days before the requirement (that never applied to me in the first place) would have become void.

11-7-2008:APPROVED

11-28-2008: Case fowarded to embassy after we get "a little help from our friends"...Interview scheduled for Monday 5th of January

12-30-2008: Interview cancelled by phone. A rude consular officer says "we have our reasons and will call you on monday."

01-05-2009: They don't call, so I call them and re-schedule for 01-07-2008.

01-07-2009: Interview. They don't say we're approved. They don't say that we're not approved. In fact they hardly say anything. No request for more documents or weird questions. They don't want to see any evidence. Just weird. They take my passport though, so most likely we are approved. Or else they just wanted my passport.

01-29-2009: The lovely consular officer tells me I can pick up my visa whenever I like!

01-30-2009: Visa in hand!

they schedule the first two weeks of each month for the next, if your case feel late how is that their fault and if your embassy is already full then the next month will just have to do, we are all in a hurry but the time spent at nvc is very short considering the time we have spent just sitting and waiting in either calif or vermont, keep calling every few days and you will get your appointment date.

I'm so sorry... This is SO unfair... well, think it's the LAST Xmas that you're apart. I'm not going to be with my husband too, I know how you feel... but you'll have a late Xmas in February.

Merry Christmas!!! Best of luck :star:
