Do I still need to go to my infopass appointment

Hello,

I made an infopass appointment for the coming Friday (Dec. 19) but last Saturday I received a letter saying I have been approved. However, my extension expires January 18th, and the letter says it might take up to 60 days to get a card.

This might be a stupid question, but should I still go to my appointment ? What about a month without any documents if getting the new card would really take 60 days ?

Thanks for any input,

Ana

You can go online and cancel your infopass appointment using the confirmation number.
Or, can go to appointment and request an I-551 stamp, just in case the card takes long to get.

The only problem is they might not give you the stamp once they see that you have been approved in the system. They might say just wait for the card and if you don't get it come back. Also I don't think you want to waste a day waiting to get the stamp.

Good luck and congratulations.

I will go only if the card did not arrive by the appointment date, just in case. If it arrived by Wednesday and the card is correct, you can just cancel it.

I think you should go and request the stamp (if the card won't show before friday)

If you extension expires on 18th and you won't receive the card by then, than you have no proof of legal stay according to the law, until the card shows up (and it may take a while)

what if you decide to travel next week for some reason? then you will need to go for the stamp anyway :)

Thanks All,

yeah I think I will go, I have to travel to DC but I would go anyway since I scheduled other things too, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

What if I win the lottery and immediately need to quit my job and go to Poland for a month ? ;)
