in every bank there is always a different list of requirements. my husband put my name in his two accounts in two different banks. the other bank ask for my SSN and our marriage certificate. they didn't ask for my ID using my married name. but the other bank ask for my SSN, MC and a valid ID using my married name. i hope it helps.

Hi there,

1) 2 valid ID's (one of which is the passport and one of the ffg: driver's license, alien certificate of registration, residency papers, etc)

2) Bank references (you need to obtain this from the bank branch you are opening the account)

There are other documents you need to fill up so you need to go the branch nearest for further advise.

Dont go open at the Rural bank as this bank likely to declare bankruptcy soon....i suggest BPI,BDO and Metro bank..

Good luck,

Mj

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

US citizen can open a ITF [in Trust For] savings account in the US. No need anything from the fiancee or spouse. You get a ATM card and makes for easy money transfers to the Philippoines. I pay $5 a hundred.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

When my husband and I opened an account with China Bank, they did ask for my husband's passport, Alien reg number, (you can acquire this when you go to the Immigration Office), 2x2 pics.

For me, BC and two more valid id's, 2x2 pics. You also have to provide, you MC.

Many thanks to Stevent, RickMj, Haole, and My panacea for the replies. I just hope that the bank I have on mind wouldn't be that particular (or ask too many requirements, lol) especially from him. Thanks again. Advance Merry Christmas and God bless!

In the US, you just need a SSN and some ID. In the Philippines, we tried to open one at Metrobank, and they said no way! They said it takes 6 months to open a USD account, joint, or otherwise. Clearing US fund transfers would take 30 to 90 days. For a peso account she had to maintain a 500 PP minimum balance, no joint account with a USC.

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

In response to the gentlemen paying $5 per hundred. There is a better way. MoneyGram from almost any Walmart. $10 for up to $800 transfered.

But this getting a seperate bank account in the US and not having a SS number is a problem. I finally found one, but I have had the account for a long time, so it is not new. But I do have to have notorized signitures from my wife, passport copy, birth cert. and marriage cert.

It's foolish to use a bank in PI.

They only insure the deposit up to 250,000 peso or roughly $5,000.

And from reading the PDIC website, looks like banks going out of business in PI is not out of the norm.

Wow, that's a good price, indeed. We pay $45.00 for every wire transaction regardless of the amount sent to the Philippines.

That is insane! I've been using Xoom at anywhere from $5-$9 per trans, based on the amount. Quick and easy over four instances so far.

However, thanks to the OP who mentioned the "In Trust For" process, which seems to be the way to go. At least I can fully monitor the account here on my end, at my own credit union. From what I understand, the ATM fees on her end in the islands are not unreasonable.

Moving on w/life
