The Embassy Staff misinformed you. You may even apply for emergency Advance Parole and return to your homeland within days of your marriage in the USA.

assuming that the I-485 has been submitted... the lack of which means their is no basis for this interim benefit...

Right, you have to file the I-485 first or perhaps even concurrently at the local office (let them mail it etc.) and I expect you would pay the separate AP fee. The point is, she can get back home pretty fast. I'm thinking most people want a little honeymoon anyway.

I do not think local offices accept I-485's... Even the DORA program has been idled.... If they did, I think more people would try....

AP is AP... whether it is emergency or not... I doubt there is a secondary fee... at least never heard of it
