Hi,

I had my medical exam last May 5,2008.

But the shots I received are not complete;which means I need to complete those mentioned shots here in the States.

I got the shot completion sometime on September. The CS signed the worksheet.

Until I saw an article of the new law implemented that on or after June 1 there is a need for a TB Skin Test.

Do I need to do the TST thing too? 'though I got the shot completion last September as required for me?

It is horribly confusing

Detailed info and help is appreciated.

This question, and variants of it, and the answers that follow are in debate or, just simply unknown. Your May medical exam exempts you from the TB skin test. But since you had another exam post june, things get cloudy, which is why you posted the question.

Until people who are in simialr situation begin either receiving RFEs for a skin test or whose AOSs are accepted, the answer, unfortunately, is up in the air.

If anyone knows, please post!

that's a bit my issue also, I doubt people get RFEs since the instructions say 'you MAY', meaning you don't have to submit it with the AOS application... the interview invitation letter states, however, 'bring the I693 and vaccination supplement to the interview if you didnt submit it yet', in other words.. what will happen if you dont have it with you then.. will they actually deny ur application? :S

I'm thinking that they would make you wait until you get it...... but then again what do I really know........

Totally agree. It will probably be similar to a K-1 who went to the interview without the required documents (i.e. the original i-134 form). They would hold approval until such document is provided (i.e. skin test results).

In this case, i'm not sure what I would prefer, an RFE in the midst of their thorough review of our papers or having approval withheld until one provided required documents AFTER the interview. I guess it would depend on the circumstances (i.e. does the applicant live near the USCIS office since it's a 48-72 hour wait for the results).

While this is true and normally always like that, I will have to undergo a 2 step test... for the first step I will have to go back tomorrow (which will show negative, there is just a bruise on that area (nurse hit me too hard lol) but no bump or anything else that could possibly show TB and in case there is a negative result there will be a second skin test given in 1-3 weeks after the first test, just to make really sure its all ok.

It is normally not like this for the I693 but since I am a household member in a carehome, I am eligble for free testing here in Hawaii and state regulations require me to do this testing once a year as long as I live in a carehome (and since my wife is a caregiver, it makes sense to do it lol).

that's too bad that you have to undergo another exam... I tested negative for the exam and a small red patch has appeared where the antigens went in, but the nurse told me it was okay. As long as there was no bump, no need to worry.

When reading about the test, I found that there's a 20% false-positive rate... what a great test :P
