Perhaps there is some valid reason for this which I am not seeing, but for right now it is making me highly annoyed. Yes, the solution is simple, but it still is annoying.

If you have an application pending, you can just call the USCIS line and have it changed over the phone. Once you are approved you can't just call, you have to send in the forms. Why is that? Does it take longer to type in the address of someone who has been approved? Are we no longer in the computer system? Yes, I have the forms filled out and ready to mail, but initially it seemed easier to just call them and tell them instead of waiting days for the letter to get there and wasting postage and paper.

Whatever, I'll mail the forms tonight.

The form AR-11 is for all the immigrants who are not citizens. The notification is required by law, not by USCIS. You still have to file AR-11 if you have application pending, but on top of that you have to call them to change your address on the forms.

I need help with this as well.....

James listed my parents address as his address on all of the K1 forms since that was where he was going to be living for a few weeks till we got married. I also listed my parents address since I didn't know what apartment I was going to be in when I sent in the initial application. Well, we're about to do AOS now and we obviously need to change our address in the system since we are living in an apartment. I called the Customer Service line and after listening to this automated man speak for about 10 minutes and finally making my way through the tons of options to get to the point where a person should pick up I get told they are too busy and I need to call back later. Do I only need to call them as well as send in AR-11 and that will complete the change of address?

This whole "you have to change your address within 10 days or go to jail" thing is slightly scaring me....I'd never heard of this before. Lol I just looked and it's been 9 days since he moved in, good thing I started looking this stuff up now! Would this actually be a problem? I'm certainly not going to get these forms mailed out today nor get through on the calling line.

Thanks, I'll keep trying to call. I've done the AR-11 for James and thanks for mentioning the other form as well!

Nevermind...I found the form online :)

Ok, for my 4th edit on this post :P I haven't sent in AOS yet and I've never filled out an I-864 so why do I have to fill in the I-865?

I had not send my AOS package nor had I filled out an I-864 either but this is what they told me. But you know they are a source of mis-information. I just guess I rather be on the safe side.

Man I hate all of this....I've got a 25 min wait to talk to someone :P I have another issue in that I'm going to legally go and change my name tommorow with SSA so I don't know if I put my old last name or new last name on the forms!

After my 30 min wait the lady told me I don't have to fill out the I-865 since I didn't fill out the I-864 yet, all we need to do is his AR-11. She was like you didn't even have to call me :P O well, now I know.
