I think my GC might be lost in the mail

It has been 16 days since my AOS interview and approval and 8 days since my online status changed to “approval notice sent” (card production on Nov 10 and 14, welcome notice received on Nov 15) and I still haven’t received my green card in the mail.

I have searched VJ and found out that if my GC is lost in mail I would have to file I-90 and pay $370 for a new card. This is ridiculous.

Do any of you have any experience with this situation? Any advice?

I need to travel in a couple of weeks; I hope I can at least get a stamp in my passport. I made an infopass with my local office for next week.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I think you should wait at least till 30 days have past since date on your notice.

it might be there by the beginning of next week

During my interview the IO said that most of the people get their GC within 2 weeks, Welcome Notice says about 3 weeks ( which will be on Monday, Dec 1st).

Just to compare the times - I got my EAD card 2 days after it was sent (according to the stamp on the envelope) and 1 day after "approval notice sent" email.

It has been too long for my GC, I just have a bad feeling about it. :((

Do you know about anybody waiting longer than 10 days for their card to be delivered?

I think you shouldn't worry quite yet, the holidays do delay mail. We were told at the interview that my GC could take three MONTHS to arrive, although it came much sooner than that (this was three months for delivery, not name checks - she stamped my passport so I could travel while waiting, so we were definitely approved at the interview).

Removing conditions:

10/9/10 - Package sent to Vermont

10/13/10 - NOA1 date, received 10/18
