And Dutchie moving to near Texas...Oklahoma LOL. Must be the Southwestern charm taking us by storm eh!

Hey, if you need jobs and want to stay relatively close, you could do worse than to look at Tulsa. We're 6 hours drive North of Dallas. Our stats say we get 113% of the national average wage with only 75% of the national average living costs. It's a great place to be and unemployment is currently only at 2% with a boatload of jobs available. I guess no one likes Oklahoma, but it really is great living. no different from how I experienced Dallas, really.

- OUR TIMELINE -

04/25/08 - sent I-130 to Chicago lockbox

05/05/08 - received NOA1, assigned to VSC

11/07/08 - transferred to CSC

12/16/08 - NOA2 by email - I-130 approved

12/20/08 - NOA2 in mail - 240 days

12/22/08 - NVC receive package

01/05/09 - we receive AOS Bill and DS-3032

02/12/09 - medical 04th Mar 2009 - NVC Complete - 314 days

04/28/09 - interview passed - 370 days

06/20/09 - visa arrived by courier

06/21/09 - POE Dallas Fort-Worth - 398 days to gain permanent residence (CR-1)

02/22/11 - Sent I-765 to Vermont Service Center

03/03/11 - Received receipt for I-765

04/04/11 - AOS interview and biometrics in Oklahoma City - took all of 20 minutes, no sweat

Currently waiting on my 10-year Green Card - Best wishes to everyone going through their journey!

LOL was kidding on4 near misses. We've had like one or 2 go within 1/2 a mile of our house last year, but they are so damn geo-specific that it can do that and you won't notice it if it's a little one. We don't often get the big ones, they're reserved for central Kansas, poor buggers. Even I don't want to live there LOL.

Yeah, I am a Helicopter Pilot by trade. It's my most favorite thing to do, so I am blessed that I can smile all the time in my office. Our website has some photos of Oklahoma and stuff if you care to look.

I'm alive! Sorry if I have worried anybody -- I'll explain what's going on with me in a moment, but first things first:

Liz -- Congratulations on the NOA1! I really hope VSC picks up speed and you'll be hearing some amazing news from them quite soon. :D

I hope you had a wonderful time with Patrick. It's always so terrible to part at the airport like that, isn't it? Especially when you watch them walk through security and disappear in the crowd. :/ I don't know about you, but for me, it just never gets any easier to part. With any luck, though, you'll be hearing something soon! My fingers are definitely crossed.

Lainie - Hello and welcome! I don't know much about I-130 applications, but I'm sure everything will go quite smoothly. Congratulations on your marriage! :)

Marieke - Better late than never. Welcome to the thread. :D I'm terribly sorry to hear about all that's happened as a result of Ike. I hope you don't lose your job, but if you do - I hope you're able to find a new one quickly. I can't imagine being in your position. you're in my thoughts. <3

Peet - I'm terribly sorry about the incident on your bike. Is everything okay now? :( Regarding Igor's List -- I wouldn't put too much stock in it. It fluctuates all the time and, honestly, I don't even recall what number I was. I know that the last time I checked before my approval, we were around #70. But don't watch it all the time - You'll drive yourself nuts!

Lovely blog, by the way. :)

Aruba - Best of luck with your interview. I'm not sure they can get switched like that, but I'll be hoping for the best for you.

Paul - I'm sorry to hear that your doctor at your medical was so harsh toward you, but at least they're allowing you to prove that you do not have a problem with drinking. I hope that by the time your interview comes, you'll have cleared your name.

Finally, as for me [what a long post this is turning out to be!] -- Things are.. somewhat stagnant. While TamTu has received his packet 3 from the consulate, he has not sent any of the requested information to them, which is completely my fault. I have yet to send him the I-134, for two reasons:

The first being.. my father. Any mention of the wedding, or the engagement ceremony [On June 13th] sends him into a rant, or makes him angry. He's being very George Banks about the whole thing [Meaning "Cheap," lol], and is going on and on about costs of everything, even though he's also told me that he's relying on me to help save for it. I never knew he was so frugal, haha! But anyway, It's become a bit of drama for me, and it's just been really difficult to deal with while trying to prove to him that there will be lots of time while trying to iron out as many financial related kinks as possible. Oh, well. It will all work out for the best.

The second reason is that.. the guides tell you to make a copy of the I-129F to send to your fiance so they can prepare for their interview. I neglected to do that, so I had to put together as much of everything as I could. It's complete - I'm just waiting on sending everything so that TamTu can have his interview in May or June, giving my father enough time to maybe cool down a little. :P

I hope everyone else is doing well.

The only doom that's looming is you loving me to death,

So I'll give you a sec to catch your breath.

NIKKI!!! Glad to see you here again! Thanks for the congrats! I'm so happy to finally have it all underway and with the possibility that Patrick will be here by Christmas! And yes, it's so very hard to part. We got his baggage checked in and then went and sat outside so he could smoke before he went through security. When it was time to go, he had me go ahead and head for the car and not watch him go through security. It was just as bad watching him go back inside and I barely made it back to the car before I lost it. :crying:

Wow.....it does sound like your having one heck of a time right now!!! I'm sorry it's so stressful...the waiting is hard enough without a lot of other things happening at the same time! I hope things get easier for you very soon!!!

Hugs, Liz

Thank God for a place like VJ to help pick you up when your down, eh!

I've now had 2 RFE's, one RFE for a mistake on the I-864A where Kourtni forgot to sign the promise as she got confused and thought our co-sponsor, her mom, had to sign it. One RFE for me, as I didn't include an original divorce decree, only a certified copy and they want a dutch PCC, but when I emailed the address given on the consulates website, they emailed back and said not to email them but London. I just forgot to in my rush...so we've both made a small mistake and I guess time is my punishment, arrgh. I'm dying just sitting around waiting, I'm probably going to have to get a job to stay sane!

Congrats, in my unqualified opinion, Vermont should pick up considerably as historically, they have been up and down like a yo-yo. When we first filed for the I-130, it was an average of 100 days, but by the time I went through it took 290 odd! Now we're on the downslope of that, so it should be less than you think. Fingers crossed and our prayers are with you.

I didnt hear from Nikki.

Marieke did you get ur AP already? I think i saw in your timeline that you filed for that right? When can you file for that? Is it possible to do that as soon as i enter the US on my K1 visa or do i have to wait until we are married? Its so nice we all stay in touch here!

Jeanine :star:

I am so sorry guys! I had mardi gras here in Galveston! it was so great to see everybody in the party mode! the island really needed it!!

Okay to answer some Q's!

I need to amend my timeline. I did file for AP in case my greencard wouldnt arrive on time for my flight in Dec. I had booked a flight in may and was waiting for my GC still at the time. It all worked out and i believe i cancelled it. When i get home i can find the paperwork. i think you have to wait till you get married. then you file AOS EAD and AP. $$$!!!

My interview... so easy! On my blog i tell a little: http://from-marieke-to-yall.blogspot.com/2...01_archive.html All i can say is make sure they have you sign all the papers. And eventhough i booked the flight before i had my interview (big no-no) i do not reccomend it. Its stressy. And too risky.

I am sorry to hear about your grandma. I know what you mean. My grandad is 93 and not doing to good. Its one of those things, if something happens, should i go back? Would you?
