:help: Hi everyone,

We just got the NOA 2, and we were wondering when she should get her medical exam and police clearance documents done. Should she get them now, or wait until she gets her packet 3? Would the embassy want the exam and police clearance them done at a date that is closer to her interview date, or does it not matter? Any responses and thoughts are welcome.

Thanks, Jim

heya :) i think you should wait for the packet 3... or at least call up the US embassy in Thailand and ask them whether they've gotten your package (after 1 week of getting NOA2). I'm now currently waiting for my package 3 too... and as for the medical exam, there's a list of panel doctors that you can visit and i think they have to sign some documents if i'm not wrong so you'll have to wait for package 3 for that... as for police clearance, you can do it now, depending on how long it'll take you to do it! :)

*good luck*

medical is good for up to one year... police report is good for up to one year...

In some consulates, the new NVC case number is required to be referenced on the medical... so you probably should wait until you know what it is.

YMMV

Hi Jim

I would do it now. The process can move along more quickly if they are out of the way. Some people have reported some unexpected delays in getting their police reports, although my DIL didn't have a problem. You can download package three from the embassy website. You can also call the National Visa Center and they can tell you if they've received your petition. If so, they'll tell you the number. It all depends on how soon you want your fiancee here.

In our case the petition was at the embassy within two weeks of being approved.

Hello everyone!

I am going to get my medical exam next week. Are there any forms from packet 3 I need to take with me for it? Or any other forms or documents besides packet 3 forms? Is it possible to get a medical exam if I don't have a case number from the NVC yet. I am just trying to get it done early.

I am trying to get it done as soon as possible, so when packet 3 arrives,I just send everything in right away.

Thank you

Cheryl

In NZ my now husband needed his A# to schedule his medical. If you don't already know this, it should be noted on your I-797 (noa2). There was a paper in P3 that he needed to fill out and take to the doctor's but the office also had these forms and after all of the info was submitted, the paper was destroyed, so i'm not sure how important it is to have.

As stated earlier, your best bet is to check with the folks in the thai thread to ask them. ;)

good luck.
