I got my EAD on the 3rd of November. Well, my state ID was expired on 17th of Sept because my K1 visa was expired at that day.

Now, when I tried to renew my State ID, the lady on the phone said I need a document which proves that I can stay in the US for at least one year. Well, my EAD expires on 22nd of Oct 2009.

So she means that I have to wait to renew my state ID until I have my GC. My interview is in Dec.

Anyone went through this?

I applied for a job and their wanted to me to put my state ID. Well, I told the HR lady that my state ID was expired and I could not renew it until I have a GC. She said it is ok, ID number will not change anyways.

Well, the company uses my SSN and state ID to do my background check. I am not using my state ID because it is expired anyways. I keep using my passport as my primary ID.

Am I in trouble? I wish I could get rid of my state ID, but I did not because I thought that I would need to return it to DMV when I renew my ID.

OMG!! your processing under santa ana too!! Andres had the same problem with the DMV! They are horrible there! First we showed up with NOA 1 stating that under the attrny general he is allowed to be in the US. They said "no we need an expiration date!" Then when we got his EAD they said "well this means he is able to have a SSN he must have it in order to get his license!" So we had to go to the social security office and req a copy of his number in the form of a receipt (because we hadn't received his card yet) Once they had a SSN assigned to him we went to the DMV and finally got his ID renewed. He had his driving test yesterday and passed!

I hope everything went well at your interview!

Let me know how it went...we should be receiving our interview date soon too!

Kind regards,

Diana
