Pedophilia among priests is an entire topic of itself, but the Church's previous MO was to essentially sweep it under the rug - now they are required by law to report any claims against a priest to the police. That is a major step in the right direction.

i agree. i really do. any move towards curbing this terrible act is a move in the right direction. i just don't think it is enough. i also find it highly ironic that i am (and everyone else) supposed to respect religions that tells us how to live our lives while something as terrible as this went on and was pretty much ignored. i think the church should have more emphasis on helping those who have been abused and be more open about it.

I just wish more priests would be charged and go to trial like "regular" pedophiles. I know that as of a few years ago they would just send them away to a "special" place, no jail time.

The whole church needs to upgrade it's whole concept. There are less and less people signing up to become priests and nuns which is something they really need to worry about.

Well this should be simple enough to solve. Since all Catholics are supposed to believe in exactly what they are told, just get the high ranking Catholics to ban reading. No child shall learn how to read, now they can't go to school or read the bible or anything! No forming your own scary opinions then...
