Each petition is put into a standard format and given a bar code that is 'suppose' to be scanned when the petition is moved from one location to another, worked on, looked at...etc. When the petition is scanned the date on your case status online will change (see below)..this is touched. We have learned here that 'touches' are very inconsistent and although they can mean an approval is on it's way, they often mean very little and shouldn't really be taken too seriously. ;)

Touches are more of a luxury in this process... they actually mean very little so don't worry about no touches.

Call NVC... you will need to talk to a person at NVC as K-1's are not entered into the automated system.

NVC 603-334-0700. Press 1 and then 5 to talk to someone.

You will then be asked for the petitioner's name and DOB and then the beneficiaries name and DOB. If they have received your approved petition (usually in a matter of days for VSC filers and soon thereafter for CSC...usually ) they will give you a new case number.

If they tell you that your petition has been sent off to the Consualte then you can track your petition with DHL (optional) to find out when it arrived at the Embassy abroad. Usually within a matter of a couple days of it being sent off. Please use the search option to look for threads on how to do this.

Another option is to call DOS to see if your approved petition has arrived at the Embassy. (202) 663-1225 Press 1, then Press 0.

Okay so I called NVC to see where and when my petition was. NVC told me that it was sent to the Embassy on Nov 7th but they couldn't give me a tracking number or tell my if it was already in the embassy. This Embassy isn't exactly known for it's speedy processing and getting a hold of someone is damn near impossible. How am I suppose to find out where my paperwork is?

Hi everybody!

I'd appreciate if some of you shared your experiences.

We received NOA2 from CSC on November 13th. I know that some people who received it around the same time have gotten a touch on the next day or so after their approval, which I believ indicates that your case has been put to the pile that is going to be mailed to NVC. Way too literal understanding of the picture, I know ;)

Ours, however, still shows the last touch on November 13th.

My question is - does there alwayd have to be an update that shows the case is forwarded to NVC? Or maybe, some of your cases have NOT been touched after the approval and still made it further all right?

Thanks, I'd appreciate any input. :D

I got my visa with no touches from day 1. U're all good.no worry

You need to register with uscis.gov if you want to get automatic updates to your case. Simply enter a user name, password and your EAC/WAC number from the back of your cashed check or your NOA1 (I-797).

Search for DHL tracking from NVC to Embassy and you will find plenty of posts explaining how to track it. If it left on the 7th then it's been there for sometime now. You can call DOS to find out if a p3 has been sent out.
