Travel outside country before the oath

Hi,

I recieved my oath invitation letter and it has a form with brief questions for things that may have changed between the interview and oath. One question is re: travel outside the country. I have an urgent out of country visit coming up a week before the oath. I will be back in USA so I don't need to reschedule or anything. My question is if it's ok to travel out of country while awaiting for the oath? Are there any gotcha's that I have to be concerned about?

It's OK to travel, as long as your travel doesn't make you ineligible for naturalization, using the same rules that applied when you filed and when you interviewed. No trips long enough to break continuous residence (that would be, generally, no trips longer than 6 months in a single trip), and no trips that would push your total time outside the US to more than 50% of your required continuous residency time.

In the vast majority of circumstances, a short international trip between the interview and oath is not an issue. We spent 10 days in Mexico between the interview and oath. It was declared on the back of the oath letter, and it wasn't an issue at all.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I have to out of US for 3-4 days max. So I think it should be fine. I just wanted to ask one more thing if you were asked so many questions about your 10 day visit to mexico which you took between the interview and oath ceremony?.

No questions. They just noted the answer on the back of the form, and noted that it didn't cause an ineligibility under the rules.

Just to point out.

Please make sure to bring your current passport to prove your travel in/out.
