ATLANTA – Being a cheapskate could get you in trouble with the law. Fulton County authorities arrested 40-year-old Dan Linscomb of Texas City, Texas, last week for refusing to pay his tab at the all-you-can-eat Iron Skillet buffet in northwest Atlanta. Officials say Linscomb ate at the buffet and let his girlfriend eat from his plate.

The restaurant charged him for two $7 meals, which he refused to pay. Linscomb was taken to the Fulton County Jail on a charge of theft of service. Fulton County Sheriff's Sgt. Nikita Hightower said Linscomb was released two days later after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct.

Linscomb could not be reached for comment. Restaurant officials declined comment.

Hopefully it was worth it to save the $7.

Think the cost escalated a more than two magnitudes and you can add foolish besides being cheap and apparently pig-headed.

Can you imagine dating someone like that?! :o

Hey hun - I'm taking you out on a date - we're going for buffet. We're only getting one - so you have to eat off my plate. I can't spare the extra $7.00. :bonk:

Sounds like she didn't pay.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

It's been my experience that many buffet places (including "Iron Skillets") have explicit signs posted about buffet policy of "no sharing".

Based on this Linscomb is obviously a chopf##k, as well as a cheapstake.

For britty--I have gotten excellent Indian foot at buffets for $8; so for an American-style buffet (such as Iron Skillet), $7 may actually be half- to full-decent.

I like the funny pic. You have to wonder at what point the guy decided to take a stand by not paying? And at what point did he actually decide that making a scene like that AND being taken into custody was going to improve his chances with his date

Amending to my earlier post: even without an explicit "no share buffet" statement being posted, Linscomb has proven a chopf##k.

(another little detail about Iron Skillet--there are oodles of non-buffet items on the menu, which can be shared--admittedly, by doing so he'd still be a cheap chopf##k, but could have avoided arrest and charges entirely)
