Interesting move - obviously a parting shot to take away any chance Obama may have of "negotiating" with Syria.

Don't be too sure of that. Even though we'd like to believe the rest of the world sometimes hates us to oblivion, even the Syrians know there is an election this year and its results may yet give them someone with enough gray matter to be able to be diplomatic before firing.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Israel is still technically at war with Syria (since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.)

Now we are too

Wars come and go.

We were technically at war with Vietnam for a while too and look how profitable things got.

peejay is right.

As far as I can tell, the facts aren't in yet, except from a Syrian government-run news agency.

If al Qaeda really was there, borders don't matter. We go after countries that harbor terrorists - it's official policy. Iraq was a diversion but maybe this is not?

I am inclined to think cynically and assume this is some kind of evil Bush-Cheney plot, but until I know more I'm gonna withhold judgment.

Evidently you and Bush have in common that the repercussions of bombing sovereign nations isn't really thought through. The entire Middle East isn't going to roll over like the already unstable Afghanistan and Iraq, which itself has presented a problem afterwards. And if we're going to be fair, lets bomb al Quieda in Saudi Arabia, where most of the 9/11 hijackers were from.

Have you stopped to think that maybe there's also terrorism from this side? Or is that not possible?

everytime I see this thread I just think of that song "america #### yeah" and burst into laughter. i can't help myself. does this make me a bad person?

You should have posted the video. Might have made me wave the flag.

I almost did last night but then I couldn't find one that didn't have "#### yeah" flashing across the screen :P

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Sovereign, shmovereign. No-one is sovereign until the United States says so.

Well, I wouldn't go that far but I certainly would say that if a nation harbors AQ, then their 'sovereignty' isn't worth jackshit.

Thanks to GWB and his little escapade in Iraq, we've forgotten all about 9/11 and AQ and the real war on terror. AQ did it, in case people forgot, and any country they're in is fair game.

That said, I'm not convinced that this really was about AQ. But if it was, then it's allright by me.
