We're starting to think about these kinda things seriously now, even though there's still many months to go obviously.

For those that travelled to the Philippines from the USA in order to fly back with your loved one, how did you go about getting the tickets sorted out so that your booked together for the return flight ?

Any advice or methods that worked?

Thanks

I took her an ATM card when I went to visit in March and then when the visa was approved I put money in the account for her to buy the ticket. She got it for about $150 less than what I could get it for!

I'm still quite a ways away from that point but like you, I am already thinking ahead about it. I plan to go there and bring her back with me. Reason being: it will be hard enough for her in the first place; never being away from home for any amount of time - let alone out of the country; She will also be leaving all her family and friends for the first time ( for more than just a few days); And she will have her 5 year old son with her. I can only imagine the emotional stress and lonliness she would be going though being in a foreign country, changing planes, worrying about customs, security checks, where to board her next flight, dealing with her carry-on baggage AND a 5 year old boy....all alone. It will be one of the most scariest and emotional times of her life and I am going to be there with her to comfort her and help her.

From what I remember the one-way ticket leaving from there cost a lot more if you buy it in the U.S.. Did you compare the price of buying it here and there?

In Australia they won't let you buy a one way ticket to america without the visa already issued.

we bought a round trip but we're going back next xmas for his sister's wedding anyway.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I bought the two tickets on-line, then called Northwest to get the seating changed. I was a high-mileage member at the time, so had more preferential seating offered on-line than was offered for her, but when putting us together they moved her up rather than moving me back.

I did check both one-way and round-trip fares, there was a special on for one-ways at the time and the one-way was actually considerably cheaper than the round-trip.

Yes, it was more expensive, but it guaranteed seating together on the same flight which is what I wanted and what the poster wants too.

Unfortunately, her visa wasn't delivered in time. We rescheduled the return once and I stayed longer ... but it still wasn't delivered .... then I finally had to go home and she followed 7 days later after rebooking her flight for a second time.

I usually get my tickets online, but in this case I'll do what was suggested and book via the airline directly I know it'll prob be lacking any special rates but oh well, thats what my tax return is for!;)

My travel agent told me to send her the money and buy it there. It saved about $150 from the best he could do!
