Logistics: How did you arrange a flight for your honey when it was time?

My wife's ticket is on advance confirmed reservation. When her visa is approved we will pay for the ticket. I scheduled the day of leaving with a little cushion just in case something happens to her passport on the way back from Manila.

We got our tickets on reservation separately. My travel agent near Chicago gets really good prices. My Wife is a travel agent in the Philippines so she got the hookup, so that her ticket is for the same flight. My agent can't get her tickets anyways.

I bought my tickets online. Sadly, I've learned that e-ticketing is not an option if the departure location is outside of the US or Canada. so I bought the tickets, had them sent to me, and then FedEx'd them to Anna. This was a bad move, as FedEx gave us a lot of trouble.

I've since spoken to the airline (Swiss Air, in our case) and they suggested this approach:

If you purchase your tickets through a travel agent, your agent can arrange to have your foreign spouse or fiance claim the ticket at their airport...

I hope you allowed plenty of cushion. Two weeks from the interview was not enough cushion for us and I finally had to return a few days before she finally got the visa delivered.
