Canadia waiting 4 weeks for SSN...

Hi everyone,

Has anyone from Canada applied for a SSN. I have been waiting almost 4 weeks. SSN office said it was still at INS.

I cannot tell from your timeline but on what eligibility basis are you applying on as it is not obvious that you have work authorization?

K-3 is not SSN eligible until EAD card has been approved

You need to find out at which step of the verification process it's at.

Find out if the SSA office submitted a secondary electronic verification request and if yes, did it come back. If the response was to submit a copy of your immigration documents, were they sent with Form G-845 and when was it sent. If it was sent over a month ago, have they followed up.

I came into u.s. on a k-3 visa. I also have a EAD card. I applied for work authorization right away when I came in and I got the card and 4 weeks ago I applied for a SSN and I'm still waiting. The SSN office said it was at INS and there was nothing they could do to speed it up.

The only involvement INS has with SSA is updating the database used by SSA to confirm immigrant status, this should have been done when they issued the EAD, I would visit another SSA office and apply for a "replacement" SSN.

There is no INS. Hasn't been one for about 5 years.
