I'm so dissapointed in the voter turnout, it's such a shame that more Canadians don't recognize the importance of voting and what an amazing right that is.

It's no surprise. I still think it's due to the fact that many people just dont' see any good leadership choices. How can you vote honestly when you just dont like whats available.

Very true. I voted based on what the candidates in my riding were doing which is kind of unfortunate. Because there will be some people who vote solely on the leader, and won't consider the candidate in their riding and vice versa.

I voted based on leader - with not much consideration to the candidate in our riding - why - well because he is pretty ineffective, although he has been in office for quite some time.

If I were to look at my riding representative - and let's say the person from the NDP or Liberals seemed more capable than the conservative candidate, how could I vote for them when in fact a vote for them might lead Dion to be Prime Minister.

It's big picture vs small picture I think - neither way of voting is incorrect, just different.

Problem with this election was definitely leadership. I had no faith in any of the leaders, so I figured at least I can find pro's and con's of what will happen in my community. Agreed, there is no right and wrong way to vote...well short of just throwing your vote, that's a waste of everyone's time.

Voter turnout is worse here in the US, I believe, and with two candidates that a lot of people don't want to support it will be hard. It may spike up a little this year though because people want change and it appears that many young people have gotten involved in comparison to previous elections.

Nevertheless, I'm actually glad that we have another minority government. Even as a liberal, I don't think Harper did a bad job at all thus far. So...I don't know. Fair dos.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
