I can't agree. I think that there are always people who are smarter and not as smart, but whole sections of the country?? No. Ignorance is not the lack of intelligence, it's the lack of information. The retoric that the republicans engage in is to tell the people on the ####### end of their economic policy, that they are the salt of the earth and the best of the country, and they should stay where they are, and screw education, who needs it anyway??? They have been cheated out of a good education, and cheated out of the aspiration to get one.

Interesting. I just read a senior's graduation project today about his mother and father and their experience in the prison camps during the Khmer Rouge's reign in Cambodia. When I read his paper I was thinking about how Pol Pot systematically eliminated those with education from the population and I thought of the "elite" label being applied to liberals here in the US.

A nation such as ours, founded on a very heady document written by some very smart and very well educated people, should never, ever shy away from electing scholars as president. We have, and we should, embrace it.

This is very powerful and I hope people really think about this.

That doesn't mean a Harvard education is more important that one from a state university, but what you do with that knowledge certainly does matter, I think.

Or is there a GPA minimum that you have to maintain in order to qualify?

I wonder about this too. I suppose the lack of proper command of the English language is what sets him apart....
