Just got married last Oct.3, 2008 and now I am filling up form for the Adjustment of Status. I got confused on what to write on the Middle name. I am thinking to put my Family name there before i was married, BUT my husband told me i should put N/A (Not Applicable) because i dont have middle name.

In Philippines, when you get married you'll be using the family name of your husband and middle name should be your maiden name (family name before marriage).

I am confused now... pls help.

If you have no middle name (legal name as shown in passport or birth certificate), you put 'None' or 'N/A'.

I agree. Until you legally change your name, they are looking for whatever is on your ID.

It is important that you follow the rule of using your Family name as your middle name now so that your GC will match your passport. When you get your passport amended to show your married name or apply for a new passport, they will follow that convention. If you do anything else other than follow the same convention when applying for AOS, they will not match. USCIS is aware of this middle name convention for the Philippines and it will not be a problem. They have a guide that shows the name change conventions for all foreign countries and they will go by it.

hello Anais and Jack .. congrats on your wedding .. very nice .

Anyway, I followed our style in the Philippines where my middle name was my maiden name. Family name now is my hubby 's last name and I have no problem with it.

I just wrote my complete full name ( maiden name ) in the other name used.

God bless .
