HPV vaccine question

My fiance and I have been reading the pros and cons of this vaccine and the possible side effects.

Besides those, we also noticed the cost, around $350 to $400. Is this a situation where you may object

to the vaccination and risk trouble during the interview or what? I'm wondering that since its a multi-step

drug over periods of weeks, that she can take the first pill prior to immigration and continue the other two

when the time comes after she is here.

I hope there is some leeway on this issue and not just get it or you don't pass type of deal.

Gardisil does not have to be done before filing for AOS in the US.

You don't need it before your interview on a K-1, but its not required for the AOS process

Just to confirm, I don't need it before the K-1 interview and I don't need it before AOS? Then when do I need it? That doesn't seem to make sense.

If it IS right, then thanks for the information.

You do need it now but there's an age requirement and your fiance looks young so I believe she needs it. Better to let someone who knows all of the facts in on this.

When we were going through our K1 I emailed the consulate to see if I needed it. As I read the K1 it says that when filing for a fiance visa that you don't need to have the vaccinations done. In Canada, this is not the case. The Consulate told me, no vaccines, no visa. If your fiancee is under 27 she will need to have the vaccine. The upside is that she can get her visa with just the first shot. The rest of them aren't required for AOS, so theoretically, if you wanted to, she could have the first shot, and then not get the other two. This is my experience, hopefully it helps! Good luck and feel free to ask more questions or for clarification if you need it.

This is what I understand as well. Unlike the rest of the Consulates, Montreal does require all vaccines to be done before the visa is issued. According to the panel physician who did my medical, they were informed by MTL is was a requirement for women under 27.

What boggles my mind is that the vaccine is not recommended for women who have had 3 or more partners, I believe, but that K applicants are still required to get it if they are over the partner limit but under the age limit.

Yes she absolutely does need to get the vaccination to get the visa.

I would probably get it anyways, even if I wasn't being forced, simply because I'm all for preventing cancer, even if it is a small percentage of that type of cancer. My Dr. recommended it anyways, and most of my friends have all had it and are fine. The side effects are very slim and rare. While it is new, it's nothing any riskier than getting other vaccines in my opinion.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Well some of the reason for doubt was cost, but more so for the true requirement of needing it or not. Thanks for clearing that up.

I think we might do the first one to satisfy the vaccination needs, but skip the rest. I thought they were pills, not shots?

Seems like a big waste of money imo.

There is a waiver based on moral belief. It costs about $600 I believe and adds some time to the process. Not sure what is the form number though.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

Been many a horror lawyer story on VJ. Best to take time and educate yourself on the process. Same goes for Guardasil, dont just jump on the band wagon and say its bad because some person on an immigration forum said it bad! Go to legit sites and make an informed decision! Wiki is not a legit site, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I didn't actually have them but I understand that you pay for the shots one at a time, you'd have to check with your family doctor.
