hey folks,

I had my biometrics taken yesterday, was in and out in 10 minutes, but had a bit of a snag. My USCIS office is in Jacksonville FL. Just thought I'd mention that I applied for AOS and EAD with my married name so my appointment letter had my married name. Once small problem though is that my K1 visa and my passport is in my maiden name. THe only photo ID I have right now is in my Maiden name. I did not realize that I should have had my marriage licence with me as they need it to verify identity before taking your finger prints if you have no other picture id with your married name. Thankfully I had one marriage licence in the car and had to run out and get it. I also forgot my ssn, but that was no biggie.

Moral of the story, if you are applying for AOS or EAD with a married name and you are a K1 with no other state issued photo ID, Bring your marriage licence!! (and ssn if you have it) :wacko:

GOT THE VISA!!!!! MAY 14, 2008

July 6/08 - Crossed the border - they let me in!!

July 12/08 - Wedding day - it was perfect!

July 23/08 - Back from Honeymoon in PR - now onto AOS?!?!?!

Sept 3/08 - AOS package in the mail - what a headache!

Sept 9/08 - 3 NOA's for AOS, EAD and AP

Sept 30/08 - Biometrics appointment for AOS and EAD

Nov 13/08 - Touch on AOS and EAD

Nov 17/08 - AP shows up in the mail

Nov 17/08 - EAD card production ordered

Jun 25/09 - Green Card Production ordered - Finally after 10 months!

June 30/09 - Received welcome letter!

July 10/09 - GREENCARD! - All done for a bit now!

May 20/11 - Sent in I-751 for removal of Conditions

Yep, that happened to me too.. We had to drive all the way back home to get the certificate and then drive back. They could have let us know we needed that too beforehand... I had my social security card but they didn't wanna see it at all.

Until you get your GC with your married name on it, you should carry your marriage certificate with you.

Oct. 22/08... U.S. Passport received

Apr. 6/05... DS-230, Part I faxed to Vancouver Consulate

May 26/05... K-2 Interview - APPROVED!!!!

Sept. 5/05... Entered U.S.

Sept. 7/05... I-485 & I-131 sent to CLB

Feb. 22/06... AOS Interview - APPROVED!!!!! (Passport NOT stamped)

Dec. 4/07... I-751 sent to NSC

May 23/08... 10-Yr. PR Card arrives in the mail

Mar. 22/11.... N-400 sent to AZ

June 27/11..... Interview - PASSED!!!

July 12/11..... Oath Ceremony
