As shown in our timeline, my fiancee and I have been awaiting the arrival of packet three for over 5 weeks (it's been a long 5 weeeeeeeeeekkkkssss). We contacted the US Consulate in Vancouver to inquire on its whereabouts only to find out that they sent the package to my physical address, not my PO Box (welcome to rural Canada). After emailing the Consulate k visa division the correct address (over 3 weeks ago), I still didn't get a confirmation that they re-sent packet 3. I emailed the Consulate 8 more times inquiring on its status, but to no reply. This morning my fiancee contacted her district congressperson (boyda), and both of her senators via email (Kansas). Needless to say, I received two emails this afternoon from Vancouver, one stating packet three has been sent out, the other containing the attached forms so I "can get the forms together by the time it arrives." Unfortunately this website has ruined my mad dash to get all the forms together (time would go faster) because VJ has already told me what I need (I love VJ!), and now I have to wait until that stupid thing arrives!

If your process has stalled, call your state reps! Mary's congresswoman's office had a designated immigration specialist (Jared) who was more than willing to help! I'm sure every state has a Jared (except California, they're all unemployed).

-YAY PACKET 3!

Hey, congrats to hear it worked (phoning your rep.). However, you do know that you didn't need to wait for packet 3 to be sent to you from the embassy? You could have printed off the forms off the website and sent in your own packet 3 before receiving theirs so you don't have to wait a long, long time for them to send it out.

Of course, this is after you know they have received your approved petition from NVC.

Yes, really. Come to the Canada Forum here on VJ, for tips on getting paperwork together, and your interview.

A quick note on using congressional or senatorial involvement in your case....

Everything has to be "by the book" (which your case seems to be). You generally cannot use a senator or congressman to help you if you haven't followed procedure. Like I said, in this case you have and their involvement is the wise thing to do. It is better than having a lawyer. My cousin works as a liason in this capacity at a congressional office, and I have seen her do things that lawyers could not, simply because she gets involved in more of the tricky stuff.

Yep, we never got our packet 3. Not even sure if it was sent to me or him. I just had him print everything off and fill it out from the internet. As to the interview letter they had emailed it to him so he printed that and took it.

Good luck to you
