Watching the election and was wondering who you thought was best politcians for us guys and their potential new wives. I thinking that woman like Palin will provide more traditional values like they have in Russia and Ukraine. Not some transgender like Hillary Clinton. I know quite few of the guys like Russian women like myself, but dislike Palin (who I think acts like a good ole fashion traditional Russian lady), but are big time democrats. Why is that? Why is it that we seek family values from another nation and vote non traditional value party like Democrats.

All of the candidates suck. It makes no difference which one is elected to office.

FWIW, I think "traditional family values" is code-speak for religious nutcase, anti-evolution, anti-abortion, anti women's rights, pro children, douche bag from the dark ages or earlier. I certainly don't look for these values in my politicians, let along my wife.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Quote of the year!

I said it before, and I'll say it again.... AKDiver for President!

I think that's what you get when you ask the American media what it means in an American woman.

What it means in a foreign lady is she doesn't mind keeping her weight in proportion to her body size, looking sexy even after having children and/or being married for years, knowing how to sew, cook, clean, iron, and not only doesn't mind keeping her husband happy.... but likes to keep her husband happy.

Yes, this argument makes a whole lot of sense, because American men have spent the last 8 years emulating vice president ####### Cheney. Schlumpy, bald, frightening.

And also I think most of this russian/other foreign women vs american women stuff is BS. Yeah, Russian women are very done up and look good... When they're young. By the time they're older, American women look waaay better. Easier life, more free time, less environmental problems to damage the skin, better healthcare, botox...

Many of the folks here with a significant age difference will be long dead before this happens :P Or, now that those women are here, they'll do all that stuff in the US!

I've seen some damn fine looking older Russian women, some of whom are fiancee's/wives of members of this forum. I think it's difficult to say that American women look better or worse as they grow older, because genetically we're just so much more diverse than your average Caucasian. But this "easier life" you mention has a double-edge...many American women (and men) have an easier time letting themselves go as they age and settle into the comfy life. American women also seem to have lost the ability to take what they've got and make it look good, whereas RU women have never lost this art. Both RU and US men have never had this skill. :)

We are talking age, but what about values? I think women libers and

the democrats are attacking Palin who actuallu stands by traditional

values. Is the problem that we moved our values away from a value

system that promotes the Hillary way in which we lose our life. Women

have the right to choose their life, but the "Herd" on the view

regularly attack women who choose to stay at home and want to lead a

traditional life. We all know that Hillary Clinton keeps Bill's

testacles in a jar over the mantle. That is why he sought other way to

feel like a man.

Important statement there but I dont want a politician to tell me what my values should be that is what my parents did.

Why do you keep bringing up Hillary last I looked she wasnt the candidate. Its the ever increasing shortsighted right wing religious zealots who think just because Palin is a woman that every woman will vote for her. I didnt think Hillary was the right choice right now so I didnt support her. My real question is In 2004 Kerry was accused of being a flip flopper but McCain has now changed his mind so many times I can keep track of where he started. He is for regulation but against regulation that is too regulatory.

No matter what position a woman holds, she'll first be judged on her beauty... then ability. Hey, we (guys) didn't make that standard, you (girls) did. We're more than happy to play along though!

But this "easier life" you mention has a double-edge...many American women (and men) have an easier time letting themselves go as they age and settle into the comfy life. The "easier life" seems to also add a couple pounds around the mid-section. Sure, there are some straight up gnarly babushkas out there, but for every woman sitting in a portolet collecting money for toilet paper, there's another that still rocks the heels and tight fitting clothes because she's still got it. In the U.S., not so much. The women who've "still got it" seem to have purchased it from their plastic surgeon... and it shows.

But they also could be younger than you guess from seeing them. Compare Russian middle-aged female celebrities with American ones. In America we do things later in general. Watching the sex and the city movie my guy refused to believe that we were watching a bunch of women in their forties.

But then again in the US i lived in NYC and South Florida, places where people tend to appearances more than in most other parts of the country, I presume.

It's a sad state of affairs when people do not attempt to find out, and let themselves be told and manipulated what a person stands for. Why are Republicans so afraid to let Sarah be subject to the same scrutiny as any other 'candidate' whether male or female. So, it was OK to dig into eveything Hillary did and not Sarah? From Palin - "Perhaps so." in ABC interview whether the U.S. would have to wage war with Russia if it were to re-invade Georgia. Sheez. How many people here even truly understand what has and is happening in Georgia. Have you read articles that present both sides. I guess I'm just trying to say be informed and don't read headlines and believe that represents the story. Yellow Journalism is more alive and thriving than it has ever been.

You're a man after my own heart bobb. :) People need to educate themselves and stop letting cable news tell them what to think. Or at the very least, if they're not going to educate themselves then just listen to me. :)

How goes preparation for the St. Petersburg visit? We all expect a trip report when you get back!

What, my trip in 21 days and 7 1/2 hours? It's the best I've ever felt before going to Eastern Europe; no nagging concerns, no red flags ignored, etc. I went to Belarus and Ukraine several times 2003 - 2005. Then I made a very poor decision in China in 2007. Have you ever wondered "How could I have done something so stupid?" If it was only me that was affected it would have been less painful. I can only go by what I've learned in my life experiences and my past experiences in this endeavor, but I'm very hopeful.

Not sure about trip report, but you never know. If I can write 7,000 + words about a four day trip to the Canadian Rockies for golf and sightseeing along the Icefields Parkway, I suppose I could manage a few words to 'sum' up my trip.

LOTS of life experience in this gang of misfits. Glad you're in a hopeful mood, it's a good attitude to take when embarking on a new journey.

We won't need quite 7,000 words, :) but definitely post a few words and some pics if you're so inclined. St. Pete will be a bit nippy in October, but the weather should still hold up for you nicely. When do you get back?
