Under the Democrats' economic plan, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.

it a great idea....f##k the rich..they have been f##king the middle class for almost 8 years under Bush Admin.

all well and wonderful until that number gets lowered to include yourself.

hey, somebody's got to pay for a trillion dollar war and the bailout of the GOP's Wall Street croonies. Or did you forget that part?

feel free to open your wallet. pat yourself on the back for being a good american.

of course they did...besides let the folks making 45,000 do it..they done it for the last 8 years

oh please, I am paying more than my fair share of tax (as are a huge percentage of the people in my community, oh and my husband too). I don't complain about it but I don't want some numbskull coming in telling me I have to pay more!! That really is taking the pi$.

by my estimation, 1 out of every 4 dollars i make goes to taxes somehow - and that's not even counting gasoline. just state, federal, personal and property taxes. :protest:

hey, me too. there is a price to be paid for living in society. Now, if we had that $trillion spent on a useless war back ...

but you approved of that, just had no interest in paying for it.

If we quit the silly campaign sooner than later, it will probably be our kids paying for it a little. That is, if the profiteers and the rich that have gotten off too light get to pay a more proportional share to their earnings. If we don't change that habit, then it will be Charles, yours, and mine's grand kids and perhaps later paying for it on top of the regular icing on that cake of debt.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Interesting considering that the bottom 50% of American taxpayers pay 3% of the federal tax.

The top 1% of American tax payers pay 37% of the federal tax.

The top 5% of American tax payers pay 57% of the federal tax.

Who is getting short changed?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

How come when Bush doled out $600 per tax filer it was a gimmick but when Obama gives a $1000 to the middle class it's a stroke of genius? Why do most economist think it's a bad idea to raise taxes in a recession? Ok, it's not really a recession but Obama it is so it must be true.

After hearing about how Obama and friends got the biggest campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, I take back the notion that he had no achievements while in the Democrat controlled Congress. He helped destroy the U.S. housing market and financial system in less than two years at the cost of $800 billion to $2 trillion dollars. Now that's an achievement.

Now that is quite a bold claim. Have any real facts backing that statement or are the aliens sending new transmission codes?

Specially since campaigns are limited in the amount of contributions that can be accepted per donor.

don't include any statistics for the entirety of people who earn less than $250,000, or state the earnings for the percentages, just use some random numbers, very helpful

I thought most Americans studied this in elementary or middle school. The three levels of government. I am sick of hearing people pay the blame on the President on the "Administration", while never ever asking what the heck is the American congress doing. After all congress did approve going to Iraq. It wasn't just GWB who said lets go there.

Oh the poor rich.

Not the point.

Here is a another fact for you:

Low skilled households:

* Pay $9,689 in taxes.

* Receive $32,138 in benefits.

So why should the rich fund the poor while the poor hang out in street corners, for example, in inner city DC. Why should I go to work and work 40+ hours a week only to have my federal pay check go to people loitering in DC streets?

As a democrat, is that what you call fair?? AKA you work and the others get to kick back..

Not the point you wanted to make, perhaps.

AS for those benefits... they certainly seem to be doing quite nicely... sustaining in the lap of luxury lifestyles that must not be allowed of low skilled households. [/sarcasm]

They pay almost 10 grand in taxes and their household income is what...30k a year?

Also, what are the $32,000 worth of benefits you speak of? I'm sure they are substantial and in no way am I in favour of giving people massive amounts of benefits, but can you give me a breakdown of what they are?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

woo, more random numbers, so useful! thankyou...

The numbers are not random. I saw them on CNN.

Not the point. I don't get $32K in benefits. I paid close to $62K in federal tax last year. What did I get?

you think this person knows what they're talking about? lol.. i think you're giving them a bit too much credit. clearly they're some numbers that they are plucking out of thin air. that's why there is no evidence or sources ;)

i say 100% of people who earn more than $250,000 who don't think they should pay more tax than everyone else is an a$$
