Um... need is pretty easy to gauge and even compare... Nice to see you defending the indefensible hoarding of money while all too many are out there wondering how they'll be paying their mortgages next month. ;)

How is taxing the rich going to stop this?

EXACTLY the point!!!! It won't.

Hence, the rich will continue to be rich while paying a fair share into keeping the nation under better conditions.

What some of our friends like to brandish as socialist wealth redistribution they try to claim as the government making everyone poor. Which is more nonsensical than Superman fighting for anything other than the American Way.

i think the most rational thing would be everybody pays the same % of taxes, like x% of their income. Call me crazy, but for me, it makes no sense it isn't that way, unless there is a good reason, like it would be terrible for the economy, i don't see why people should be punished for making more money, it's totally ridiculous and unfair.

Punishment is not getting taxed past a cap of one's income. I fail to see how detrimental it would be for a rich person that didn't need the money to have to pay a pittance on what already makes them financially apical to the rest of the nation... while the absolute majority end up paying more proportionally for cost of living and market items than the rich.

Sure... your idea would work if everybody made somewhere around the same general range of income.

Who are you to say they don't need it? Who died and made you god?

Welcome back, Gary!

It's nice to see your out of your shell. Your comments are pure class warfare. Advocating socialism like this is very telling. At least your honest enough to admitt it. Although I will never be rich (unless Luz wins the lottery) I don't begrudge them one dime as long as it was made honestly.

 Oh Gary... read my very previous post to reply to that one.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

What some of our friends like to brandish as socialist wealth redistribution they try to claim as the government making everyone poor. Which is more nonsensical than Superman fighting for anything other than the American Way.

There is always two sides to every story. Nothing is black or white.

I don't mind paying my share to help others less fortunate but I also want results. I look at how many people just sit and chill throughout inner cities in America and think why should I go to work and pay for you while you kick back and chill. Why should I work 40 to 50 hours a work while people cannot be bothered moving to get a job. Cannot be bothered picking up the trash outside their house. Don't have enough respect to take care of the property paid for and provided for by the tax payer. Why should I pay taxes only to see people have their third and forth child, who will be funded by the system, while I am putting money aside to have my first.

You act as if this is 1925 and the rich are simply stepping on and exploiting the helpless poor. You guys sit here, for example, and want us to welcome all of these illegal immigrants. Then turn around and complain that the poor Americans are being short changed. That is what is illogical. Everything is interrelated.

What did you call it again, Cause and effect. EG Cause: 12,000,000 illegal immigrants working in the US Effect: equals 12,000,000 less jobs. That is, less job opportunities for low skilled Americans.

Edited by Aficionado

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Whoa there... one at a time buster.

Assuming that all poor out there (again) are like that? If so, then that attitude will definitely earn you the privy of paying as such. Now... demanding the money you pay is accounted for with measurable results would be priceless.

And doable if people stopped biatching about society's problems and elected politicians that obeyed the public will to improve society.

But we've had this discussion before.

Um hum. 1925. Welcome illegal immigrants (to which you can't substantiate, by the way- so that is more Boo Yah sense at work).

Sure, everything is interrelated. You claim poor Americans are being shortchanged by the system (just now) and yet blame the same poor for being poor due to attitude problems much alike your own, but in different dimensions.

And who is exactly... "you guys"??????

You have some really twisted logic there. The rich already pay way more than their "fair share". The top 10% pay 90% of the taxes already. What do you want, them to pay all? Even that wouldn't be enough for you I bet. How about EVERYONE paying their fair share? No more of the 40% of workers getting more back than they pay in every April 15. You seem to like the idea of everyone riding on the backs of those that work hard, made the sacrifices and made the right choices in life. The rich are not the govenments piggy bank for their social engineering as you seem to think. God, I can't wrap my head around the way some people think.

Just because they pay a large chunk of taxes doesn't mean its a fair share.

Correct my "twisted logic" that defines that you pay more tax if you make more.

All the while continuing to be rich. GO figure.

So in essence, you FAIL.

If the rich were the government's piggy bank for social engineering... there'd BE NO RICH.

Nothing to assume at all. I see it time and time again in almost every large city in the United States I have been to. If it was only one I would say fair enough this is isolated. Once you hit the sixth city with the same dam problem you think, Houston we have a problem here. I have never ever seen any group just 'chillin' in an Australian city. Well, apart from the areas which are building up a large Sudanese population.

So that settles it then. Illegal immigrants do not affect the prosperity of Americans. I will just have to forward this maviwaro logic to the various OECD nations out there. Obviously they must not have got the memo.

Depends on which poor Americans you are talking about. Attitude varies greatly from inner cities to smaller American towns. I have great respect for someone who at least tries.

And who is exactly... "you guys"??????

Listen to yourself. The more the rich makes the more they pay already. But that isn't good enough for you, you want them to pay ever increacing tribute to the social engineers of this country. At some point you will not have any rich because you remove all incentive to become rich. Then where will you get your money for all your social engeneering? In reality YOU FAIL. It is taking real restraint to keep from telling you what I really think of you right now. People like you are trying to reshape America into something I want no part of. I suggest if you don't like living in a free market society you should go somewhere else. Don't try and bring us down with your fukced up ideas.

Gary, in free country, he's as much right to his ###### up ideas as you have. The US is a fluid, not a fixed state so give over telling people to move because they want something different to you.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

The US is fluid but there are a few things it should NEVER be. That is becoming a socialist country. I have the right to tell him what I think just as much as he has the right to spout his insane ideas.

Riiiight.

You say it... it MUST be absolutely right. I suppose you want to make assumptions about culture and national origin while at it.

As for your new illegal aliens tangent for the second time in the same thread (bravo!), where do you want to take it? You just claimed one thing that has no substantiation and now you want to talk gray areas as if there is a mystical 'liberal' group here claiming an absolute argument that does not exist.

Translated for you- nobody is disagreeing that illegals have NO impact on the society. Yet tying that in to your suggestively racist comment just a moment ago is well... not a surprising turn of a tangent in your playbook. Much like your adamant attitude problem as well as your typical and non-innovative nutjob labeling of people that disagree with your attitude problems.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
