question about what comes after NoA2

Assuming everything goes as planned and we receive our NoA2 in january, what happens next?

I know there needs to be an interview. do they schedule that for you? Is it directly after getting your NoA2?

An NoA2 is NOT the real approval then? the real approval comes after the interview? Do you know right away or do they take time in considering?

I just want to be extra prepared!!!

Thanks in advance!

AOS

05.17.10 - I-485/I-765 mailed

05.25.10 - NoA

06.25.10 - biometrics appt

07.02.10 - emailed that our case is moved to CSC!

07.14.10 - touched

07.21.10 - touched

08.03.10 - approved for EAD

08.05.10 - uscis mailed out EAD

08.09.10 - EAD received!

01.05.11 - a ###### RFE over 6 ###### months after the fact

02.01.11 - touched

02.14.11 - APPROVED (finally)!

first of all Congrats on your NOA1 and i think once you got it in Sep so you join us here Sep K1 VSC filers 2008

after you will get the NOA2 Vermont Service Center will send your petition to the National Visa Center ( NVC ) for background check .

and then after that the NVC will send your papers to the Consulate in Canada for the interview.

the Consulate in Canada will send you some forms to fill out and they will ask you for some papers like your birth certificate the police record....medical exam

NOA2 it means the USCIS approved you . and yeah you need another approve at the interview

and you will know right away like they will tell you congratulations.....we will send you the visa in ....days or weeks

Good luck and my best wishes for you

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

So if the NVC does the background check as you said Hot Guy, then what does the Vermont Service Center do? I was under the impression the VSC does a background check? Why would anything else take 6 months?

Thanks for the info, I'm just curious on the process.

There are checks at every stage of this process and you can get held up at any stage... here's a list of the security checks

J ust to let the other Canadian filers know, if you are going through Vancouver, it will be a bit faster than Montreal, but Montreal handles the bulk of the interviews and unfortunately they are slow as all get out  . There are people that received their NOA2's in July that still have not received their interview dates. We got approved on the 1st of September, but I don't expect to get my interview before January at the rate they are going. They seemed to have backloged themselves, but from what I read, I shouldn't complain - last year it could take up to 6 months for Montreal to give an interview.

For us Canucks there is still a wait ahead I'm afraid :( But I just keep telling myself it's worth it :)

:innocent:
