Is it really necessary to have an ongoing relationship for 2 whole years until i can file for a K1 visa? we have only been " in a relationship " status for about 8 months. Got engaged last August 7, 2008 while i was visiting cebu. I was introduced to him in person back in 2002 through my cousin. but we have no pictures together from back then nor did we really communicate until the end of last year. We do have tons and tons of pictures from my visit last month. i do have pages and pages of cellphone bills and phone card bills ( since i buy my phone cards online, i have a receipt of all pc bought.) and of course my boarding pass. will my application be rejected since its only been a years worth of proof??? also i am planning to go back home to cebu this coming january....

The requirement to file the 129f is that you've met in the preceeding two years of filing the petition. your good to go

I agree + the intent to marry within 90 days of arrival in the US.

Try any dictionary and compare the definition of "within" to "for".

I don't write this to be a smart azz. To have a successful visa process, you must read carefully and interpret literally. If you don't have the aptitude for it, you'll need the direct and constant assistance of somebody who does.

The phone bills, cards, emails, etc , are evidence that you would use at the interview to prove bonafide, ongoing relationship. with the 129f, you'll want to submit evidence from your last visit: photos, boarding passes, etc...

Right, so the visit last month qualifies as "within the past two years". The relationship doesn't need to be two years long, so long as you have met during the past two years.

I consider the purpose to be helping people have a successful visa process. To do so, they must learn the process. To learn the process and follow it, they must be able to read carefully, interpret literally and answer accurately.

If the only information they gain is from asking questions, they are far less likely to have a pleasant or succussful Visa Journey because they won't know what they don't know. As a result, they won't know to ask some critical questions. The sooner this is understood, the better. The more one observes, the more better they understand this concept.

Hello Enialla,

And by-the-way, welcome to VJ.

This site holds a wealth of information for you as you embark on your journey.

There are very many kind and helpful people here, who will assist you and guide you when the need arises. But also, on the other hand, as in life, there will always be a few "sour grapes" and "rotten apples" too.

I tend to just hit the "ignore" button (literally and figuratively) when encountering such ****** ******'s.....For some reason, there are some who seem to enjoy patronizing others ON A REGULAR BASIS.

I just say "God love um" and then I move on....

Anyway:

The guides at the top of the page here contain a wealth of information, that will aid in educating you about the entire process from beginning to end, no matter which route you choose to take initially. Just take some time to navigate around the site. You will be amazed at what you will find.

Good luck with your journey
