Kinda interesting, America is such a great nation, they give Georgia 1 billion dollars in help, and squeeze out 100k to Cuba.

Who needs it more? This notion pretty much describes American strategic interest in Georgia.

Georgia had has very little of civilian damages, while Cuba got its ### kicked.

120,000 houses destroyed

no death count because of total chaos.

Btw almost no coverage on Cuban tragedy. There are much more important things going with Palin McCain!

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

I saw a story the other day about the Cuban civil defense authority (I can't recall the exact name of the agency). Pretty impressive - the way they have evacuation and relief plans down cold. The Cuban handling of hurricane type natural disasters, considering the resources Cuba has, really makes FEMA look like a bunch of monkeys (not that FEMA needs Cuban help for that).

Why would they give Cuba cash?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Cuba hasn't been an U.S. ally for 49 years but Georgia has been 17 years. Do you give more aid to your friends or your enemies?

Cuba is an island used to hurricanes surprise.

Btw almost no coverage on Cuban tragedy.

There's no freedom for journalists in Cuba so why cover the place? Most of the coverage is naturally devoted to when the hurricane strikes the U.S., duh.

In addition Georgia has had a close relationship with the United States - sending troops to join the US-led coalition in Iraq.

The US has helped to train and arm the Georgian military. It also helped Georgian troops return from Iraq after the Russian incursion into South Ossetia. (BBC)
