What exactly is the point of this exercise anyway?
Does anything on the internet really have a point?

The original point wasn't about the semantics of what people called the electoral process, but about the framework of the party system and how it produced polarity. I don't quite see how quibbling about the word democracy changes that.
But I think the point was that the U.S. doesn't have a democratic form of government. Edited by akdiver

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Well anyways, the polarity has nothing to do with the system of government, but the exercise upon it by politicians and corporations/interest groups alike who win by dividing the populace, as an educated, objective one doesn't open many doors for the lower class to bend over and taking it up the ###.

The US is a Democratic Republic.

Now STFU.

:P

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Although the thought has occurred to me frequently, of course I will vote and of course it could never be for McCandidate and Carribou Barbie.

OK, I've tried REALLY hard to stay away from the name calling and the mud-slinging on both sides .... but I really just choked on my wine over that one.

I giggled too, even though Caribou was misspelled.

However, I see Britty is reading as we speak, so expect some diatribe about how we're bashing poor Sarah and we're so mean.....

Clearly I was drinking wine, because as you and Natty pointed out, Caribou is spelled wrong!

Quickest way to cross party lines...offer wine :)

That works for my SO. I need something a bit more, uh.. tasty. Captain Morgan's will do for me.

straight (neat) ... on the rocks ... or mixed ?

Both.

Although, I'm a lot less willing these days to brave actually drinking straight, but sometimes just can't resist the spiced rum taste unique to the Cap.

I've mostly consumed hard liquor these days with a mix, Rum and Coke, Soco 'n Root Beer, Jack 'n Coke, Brandy 'n Apple Juice, Vodka and Orange Juice. Seems I'm spoiled in that I can just drink myself silly, with a perfect taste, just to the point of not being able to walk straight (the perfect drunk is walking and having to watch your feet in amazement that you aren't falling), and not end up with a hangover like most ####### beers cause. I only drink on the rocks if it's my only option (restaurants), but when at home, or when allowed to BYOB at certain concerts (like the Tidal Wave, held in the Bay Area every year, free and BYOB), I will make a very large drink. Doesn't take much to consume a small 750ml.

Hence, why I plan on, in the future, to brew my own beer. I will knock some socks off. My goal is the sharpness of a Wheat Beer like Hefeweizen. Not the hangover inducing Anheuser-Bullshit. We have a local brewery that makes some killer, killer Wheat Beer. So I'm not stuck just drinking harder liquors which contributed to my 50 pound gain (180lbs to 230), which will take 6 months to shave off.

After the party phase, I've only had alcohol like 3 times in the last 3 months. So I'm doing pretty good.

Edit: Damn, we need a beer topic.
