What do you do with the ITIN # (individual taxpayer's id number) once you receive your ssn#?

Greencard (2008):

July 16....AOS mailed;

July 17.......AOS received
July 21.......NOA1 receipt date

July 23.......Check Cashed
July 25.......Received NOA1

July 28.......Received Biometrics appointment
Aug 12.....received RFE notice

Aug 13...Biometrics Appointment

August 19...RFE received, case resumed processing
Oct. 8.........EAD Card production ordered

Oct. 16.......EAD Approval noticed mailed
Oct. 18........EAD in hand (came in mail)
Nov 3.........Interview Notice received in mail
Dec 4.........Interview APPROVED, CRIS email: card production ordered
Dec 9.........Welcome noticed received in mail Dec 9.........card production ordered
Dec 14.......Received greencard in mail

the ITIN is now null and void once you have your SSN.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

the ITIN is now null and void once you have your SSN.

So do you turn in the card when applying for ssn#? Or submit it to IRS? not sure of the procedure to officially rid oneself of it so it won't end up in the wrong hands...

Note: don't have the original letter that came with it, just have the card itself.

I don't have enough information to conclude that. For what it's worth, as far as I know, one of our joint bank accounts only has her ITIN.

It doesn't, I was just curious as to what happens with ITIN once we receive ssn...just for personal knowledge nothing more LOL...
