Question concerning the 6 months stay

Does the 6 month stay have to be continuous? I'm a dual citizen of the Philippines and I stay here on again and off again staying in the philippines for 2-3 months at a time then go back to the states for 2 months then back. will the consular look for a 6 month straight stay or accept that i've been a frequent resident of the Philippines?

It has to be a continuous stay, as legal residency (ie not just presence in the country). That being said, nothing to oprevent you from taking holidays in the USA- thus if you are officially a resident of the Philipines (have a house/ rent an apartment there, have a job there, pay taxes there etc), I believe you could probably file DCF even with lengthy stays out of the country.

It doesn't hurt to try. If you've maintained some type of residence there for at least six months, even if you weren't physically present the whole time, that would probably be accepted. Like, if you could show a lease or a mortgage that was at least six months old.
