Is there way to check the status of my petition on the NVC website? I know the petition's at the NVC, I called on May 19th and got the case number. Do they have a status update web page like the the service centers have? Or is it all by telephone?

No... Since K-1 visas have a short stop at NVC, it doesn't enter in the automated system and you can't check the status in their web page!

The only way to get information is by e-mailing them or calling! I emailed them last Tuesday and they answered me today, saying my petition was already sent to Rio de Janeiro!

Good luck!

Billy,

Actually, this may be good. There are many reports that some Fed workers are saying the NVC is doing extra checks on the USC when the petitions are returned.

It might be that the instructions are now at the NVC and petitions that have not been forwarded are having the extra checks to avoid more returned petitions.

I don't know this as true; it is logical.

Oh I forgot -- the Feds logical??!!! I mean does that make phreaquin' sense? The Feds are logical?

Hi Larry

I just did the follow up on the notice I have received from the NVC. It stated " This notice is to let you know that your approval petition will be forwarded within one week" The notice date was May 15, and today is May 22. It is one week. On the positive side, the man from NVC told me that it will be forwarded soon. I just keep my fingers crossed.

Hi Billy,

Well I was trying to be positive. I just posted the link to the official statement by the NVC Department of State on the returned petitions. I don't know if what's there will give you a hint of what might be going on. It appears that the NVC is doing extra checks on the USC as a result of the IMBRA requirements.

Hope yours gets sent quickly!!!

Larry

I got the same letter from NVC, dated May 1st. Mine was not shipped to the embassy until May 16th. Hopefully yours will be sent soon.

Yup March 6 but you also need to remember that they ship cases in batches so they may only ship your case a week after you received the notice and then it'll take the embassy a few weeks to send out your packet 3.

Good luck
