Hello to all :) Not getting too far ahead of ourselves, but here is a simple question. Our interview is on a Monday, and I have no option other than to return from Bogota back home to the USA Thursday. I notice it takes a few days to get the visa, can we speed it up any?? Say... by Wednesday pick up or delivery within the city of Bogota? Maybe special request?? Anyone do this? Or is it just the luck of the draw on how busy they are? Thanks!!!

Special request for Consulates or Embassies are only granted to high political or military figures. I know cause my father was a diplomat.

It's just a matter of luck to be honest with you, workload influences a bit but not as much.

Don't let the choices chose you, chose the choices that you want.

I'm not sure how Bogota works. You might have better luck in the regional forum finding someone who recently went through there.

But I know that in Caracas, the only way you can get your visa is by having it delivered via DOMESA, a courier service. You can't pick it up at the embassy or get it the same day as the interview. When you're approved for a visa, they give you a slip of paper which you fill out, telling DOMESA where you'd like the visa to be delivered to. You also pay a courier fee. The thing you can do to speed things up is to have DOMESA hold it at their local office, rather than having DOMESA deliver it to a home address. If you request DOMESA to hold it at their office, in downtown Caracas, you can pick it up around 10:00am the morning after your interview.

Same thing in Colombia. Once your visa is approved, you have to pay the courier fee and DOMESA will deliver it to whatever address you give them. It takes between 2-3 business days delivery time if you live in Bogotá. If you live outside of Bogotá, it will take between 6-10 business days. You can also ask if you can go to the DOMESA office to pick it up but it will take the same amount of time, 2-3 days.

So, if you're visa is approved on Monday it'll probably be ready by Wednesday but most likely it will be ready by that Thursday unfortunately. And no, there's no way or fee you can pay to change this. The best thing would be for you to fly back that Saturday and give them till Friday to deliver it or to pick it up.
