Should we reschedule our biometrics appointment?

We went to the Embassy about 2 weeks ago because my husband's passport expires Sept 15, 2008. Little did we know that they had to send in the old passport so we could get the new one. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to get the new passport in the mail. Today, we got a letter to do the biometrics for the I-751 and we have to be there on Sept 4. What if we haven't received the new passport by then? Should we ask for another appointment?

You do not need his passport to do Biometrics, all you need is his greencard. no need to reschedule.

I believe you need some other type of government issued ID as well as the greencard - if he has a driver's license he should be fine. Check over the biometrics letter carefully to see what is required. If he does need ID and his passport is his only ID then you will need to reschedule - if you have other ID he will be fine.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Hi everyone. First of all, let me say how wonderful all of you are:)) I am so glad I am a part of this group. He does have a drivers license and he also has his greencard. I just thought you had to have the passport to get the I-155 stamp in the passport. We did get the the letter NOA saying his greencard would be extended for 1 more year, so that's exciting:))

If you have the NOA, you don't need a stamp in your passport.

When I did my biometrics earlier this month, all I needed was my green card and driver's license.

Timeline for Naturalization:

Day 1: Application delivered to AZ

Timeline for Removing Conditions:

Green card received 117 days after application was delivered to USCIS

Timeline for AOS:

Green card received 120 days after application was delivered to USCIS

Also, they do not stamp your passport at Biometrics. This is strictly for fingerprints and photo. My wife took her passport, greencard, the NOA and the biometrics appointment letter. You are expected to carry the original NOA everywhere you go until your new 10 year GC arrives.
